Noah’s parents know me from our college days. We were all in the marching band together. Even if I was only there for a short while, we have still kept up with each other through the power of social media. They asked if I did first birthday sessions, and of course I said yes! We would be visiting family around the time of Noah’s birthday too, so it all worked out.
At-Home Session
They wanted a studio-like session, so I packed up my backdrop, decorations, and equipment and we got to work transforming their home into a studio. They also frequently visit the hot air balloons (I’m so jealous!) and knew that’s what they wanted for the theme. They gave me full creative power, so I quickly got to work planning!
Cake Smash
Cake Smashes are my favorite! I love planning the cake and working with the baker I use to make the perfect little piece of art. I feel like the cake is an extension of the session and adds to the art of the photographs. I went with something simple but also themed, so we ended up with a little sky cake. It took Noah some warming up to the cake, but once we put him in his high chair he went to town!
Patronus Add-on
Noah’s parents are also HUGE Harry Potter fans and saw the pictures I made for my mother: Evelyn’s Patronus Pictures. So naturally, we had to add that on! To discover my daughter’s Patronus, I did the Patronus quiz. For Noah, I believe they chose an animal based on his personality mixed with his favorite animal. As a person grows and changes over time, so might their Patronus. It would be fun to follow up in a few years and take updated Patronus pictures as their animals change!
