Seeing The Fall Colors in Copper Harbor, MI
Copper Harbor holds a special place in our heart and it’s a beautiful little gem of a town. To get there, you have to head to the northern most point in Michigan (over the Mackinaw Bridge AND Portage Canal). The town is quaint with a few stores, plenty of hiking trails, homemade goodies and small-town hospitality. The best place to spot the color changes would be by heading up to Brockway Mountain.
Per tradition, we always park the car and walk around town on foot. There are a few stops that are our favorite, but we were just walking around to see what was open this time. This was our first off-season trip up here! This town does not disappoint, and the views were stunning!
The Copper Harbor Schoolhouse recently installed a nature-inspired playground! This was a wonderful addition and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring it before heading off to dinner.
For dinner, we swung into the Mariner North (which was the busiest we’ve ever seen). We started off with a pate plate because we were all extremely peckish, and that hit the spot! I ordered the Stowaway, vegan egg salad sandwich, which was out of this world! It almost tasted like the real deal! My husband ordered the Portside grilled cheese.
After picking up a few trinkets and some fudge at one of the gift shops, we headed up to Brockway Mountain. When you head up from the Copper Harbor side, there will be an overlook of the town on your left. We love to stop and watch the scene! It’s really pretty at dusk, as the lighthouse is shedding it’s green light on the water. We also made a few stops along the drive because we were so blown away! This trip was past the peak period, but it was still absolutely stunning.
