How was your Fourth of July? We usually do the same thing every year - going to one of the Metroparks here in Metro Detroit and spend all day with my family listening to the bands play, enjoying picnic food, and watching the fireworks at the end of the night. This year was a little different with everything being cancelled. Instead, we went to my parents house and enjoyed grilling, hanging out with family, and we actually went through our pictures from our Japan trip!

I wanted to make a nice tablescape this year since we were staying in, so we borrowed some decorations from family and got to cooking! We made a themed cheese plate, cut up half of a watermelon, used the rest of the watermelon to make fresh watermelon juice, grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and corn, and had oven-roasted asparagus, garlic, and onions. For dessert we had grilled peaches, fruit parfaits, mulberry + rhubarb pie and ice cream.

Afterwards, we went home and played games after Evelyn went to bed. Our house was completely surrounded by fireworks until about midnight. It was a loud night to say the least. Despite the loud night, and everything going on, it was a nice change of pace to spend our day enjoying time with family!

Spend the day with Evelyn - my 13 month old daughter. Hit the thumbs up button if you think I should do more of these videos! We spent our Forth of July week...
