Apple Charlie's Orchards | Michigan Cider Mills

Fall in Michigan means trees exploding with color, homemade baked goods, donuts, cider, hay rides, and corn mazes. No fall is complete without a trip to your local Cider Mill for warm donuts and freshly pressed apple cider. So whether you are planning a solo trip, date day, or family outing, let’s go enjoy a beautiful fall day at a cider mill in Michigan!

Starting with Apple Charlie’s Orchard // 38035 S Huron Rd, New Boston, MI 48164

After you park, you are immediately greeted by the building. Head over to the right side and enter the side door. From there, the hall will lead you through the history of Apple Charlie’s, and the giant windows let you look into the process of their baked goods, such as season pastries, cookies, and their freshly made donuts. In 2020, everything was prepackaged for safety reasons with the sprinkle toppings being in a paper bag. After putting your donuts and cider into your basket, finish by walking through their store. Here you can find already picked apples, bags for U-pick (be sure to check their U-pick schedule), and other local Michigan goodies!

After leaving the store, you will find the picnic area just behind the the entry side of the building. There are picnic tables in the lawn, under a pavilion, and a gazebo. In the pavilion, you can find entertainment throughout the season. Grab yourself a table, put your donuts into the paper bag, and give it a good shake to spread the cinnamon sugar evenly throughout.

Afterwards, head around back to visit the farm!

The farm has quite a few animals to look at! We were able to see chickens, goats, a calf, bunnies, an Ostrich, and a few others that were sleeping in the barn. In front of the calf’s barn is where you can find the hay rides.

If you want to venture out into the orchards, be sure to purchase your bags inside and head past the pavilion area. Behind the pavilion is where you will find the entry gate to the orchards.

The orchards were closed on the particular day we went, so we headed out to the pumpkins instead! If it’s late enough in the season, Apple Charlie’s also sells pumpkins by the weight. Evelyn picked out one for herself and placed in on the scale.

You can find more events held throughout the season as well. So be sure to call or check their Facebook page for updates!
