Healthier Road Trip Snack Ideas
Road trips are fun-filled adventures, whether it is exploring new places or seeing old friends and family. With two kids in tow and ourselves to feed, stopping for food frequently makes the road trips unnecessarily long and costly. Packing our own healthier snacks for the journey can be a game-changer! Not only does it save you money, but it also helps you stay energized, satisfied, and focused on your travels. This article will provide tips on how to pack healthier road trip snacks that are easy to prepare, tasty, and nutritious.
Fresh cucumbers and grapes! These are deliciously crunchy snacks that are easily the first container to become empty. These are good in-between snacks or when you just need something refreshing.
Cheese + Cracker sandwiches! Making your own lunchable or charcuterie board to go is an easy way to cut costs on a road trip. We make our own crackers, but you can pack your preferred brand, add some sliced cheese, then cut up anything else to go with it (turkey, pepperoni, ham).
Healthier nature valley bars + That’s it. fruit bars. I would have preferred to make our own granola for the ride, but I’m a busy mama, so I just grabbed a healthier nut bar, something that would keep us full longer. That’s it. fruit bars are a huge hit in our family and we love to pack them for every trip!
4. GoGo Squeeze yogurt and apple sauce is the easiest mess-free trip snack. Their pouches are recyclable too, so be sure to store them away for later!
5. Dates + Apricots with peanut butter and hemp seed make for a delicious, filling, and protein-packed snack.
6. Kids bento box filled with anything that will fit! I added organic cheese puffs, animal crackers, yogurt covered raisins, cranberries, and our child’s own That’s it. bar.
