Quick Camping Trip | Detroit to Muskegon
Though it may not look like it, it was spring in Michigan! Charlie had a good friend from college drive out to visit us at the end of April and we wanted to show him the Great Lakes (well some of them). He arrived on a Friday night and we wanted to give him a break from driving, so on Saturday we stayed local. We took him to Lake Erie Metropark to see, well, Lake Erie! Afterwards, we took him to Detroit to see some of our historical features: The Guardian building, The Fisher building, The Renaissance Center, Campus Martius, The Train Station, and the Spirit of Detroit. I hope he wasn’t too tired from the drive because we walked almost six miles!
On Sunday morning, we headed straight for Muskegon and Lake Michigan. Thankfully the weather held up for us that day and we were able to hike the dunes in the sun. We weren’t as lucky the following days. Monday, we visited the USS Silversides Submarine Museum before heading out to Bay City and Lake Huron/Saginaw Bay. By the time we reached Bay City, it was done raining; however, it was still incredibly chilly! We did still do a small lake loop that took us out to a beach, made our fire and dinner, and called it a night. Because of the weather, I don’t have any images from Bay City.
It was a jam-packed, three-day trip, and despite the whether, I’d say we all enjoyed it!
Our Tent: Coleman Fast Pitch

Despite the rain and cold from our Michigan spring, we had such a great experience! All of these images are edited with my new Sand Dunes Preset pack! They have been my go-to filters for my desktop and mobile pictures. They are compatible with most of my travel images. Some may need minor tweaking, but the package includes a PDF with tips on how to do just that! An Adobe Lightroom subscription or program is required to use those presets.
So what do you think? Would you travel to Lake Michigan and see the sand dunes?
