It still isn’t completed, but I wanted to show an update to Evelyn’s playroom! This will be our guestroom/playroom combo when it is finished, so there are quite a few pieces we are missing. But, I am just working with what we have for now while we wait! If you have been following along with my YouTube videos, I’ve mentioned a few times that I am trying to refocus my purchasing. We don’t need brand new everything, and sometimes a loved item is just as good! So I am trying to take my time and really think about the items we bring into our home before we make any purchase.
When you first walk in, you see Evelyn’s play station. We DIYed her Ikea kitchen, was gifted her Melissa & Doug Cleaning set, and was handed down the Step2 Art Station and the Little Tikes Workshop. The last thing I want for this station is the Ikea Sensory Table and stools to go with it. It has been out of stock since Christmas though, so we are still waiting to receive an ‘in stock’ notification.

The other side of the room is then my little mom station, the book shelf, and Evelyn’s trampoline. This isn’t my dream environment for this side of the playroom, but I used what we already had on hand and needed a new spot! There is a cork table that was left with this house and the rocking chair was a gift to my mom for her baby shower when she was pregnant with me. So that is definitely a special piece of furniture that I will be keeping for all our little babes. The bookshelf use to be in our old office and I thought it would fit this room perfectly, especially after we set up a reading area in here. I hope to have Japanese style floor cushions with backs and a little table that is all foldable and easy to store.

In the bottom of the bookshelf, I just have these little tubs from Ikea for right now, but I want to go get some bigger, more decorative baskets to fully hide the toys. I have them grouped by category, so the basket on the left is ‘math’, then music, and the one on the right is colors and emotions, for example. But I want to get taller baskets so they are well hidden to keep toy rotation fully functional!
My cousin also made me a beautiful swing for Evelyn, but we haven’t hooked it up yet!
Something I also love about making the master bedroom our playroom is that it has a half bath! For all of you moms out there potty training, this has been the best decision!

This space is still a work in progress, but I love the mix of neutrals and colors! I also love how it is laid out and perfect for independent play!
