Michigan is quickly being recognized as a beautiful fall destination location. There’s no shortage of fall fun to be had from the scenic fall foliage, picking apples at the local cider mills, tasting award winning wines and beers, and the plethora of hikes or scenic drives. These cabins across Michigan make for the perfect cozy cabin fall or for a quaint resting stop along your fall travels.

#1 Clarity House, Glen Arbor

This is a stunning chalet built in 2020 within walking distance to all of Glen Arbor. You can find 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths, and a dramatic open concept kitchen. From in-floor heating, hot tub, fire pit, and the gas fireplace, you are sure to find a cozy fall experience in the quaint town of Glen Arbor.

#2 Anam Cara Cabin, Copper Harbor

This quaint and sustainable cabin perfectly fits in with its charming setting. Surrounded by trees and the shoreline of Lake Superior, this is the ideal cabin for reconnecting and finding balance. You are close to Copper Harbor or Eagle Harbor for all the wonderful nature experiences. These slow living towns truly embody the stillness of fall. If you are coming in late fall (late October or November) you may have to bring some snowshoes or arrange a snowmobile drop off, wouldn’t that make for an interesting story?

#3 Harbor Springs A-Frame

Just outside Harbor Springs, you can find this quaint A-frame overlooking the rolling hills. Surrounded by trees, a cozy wood burning stove, and a short drive away from the Tunnel of Trees makes this the perfect fall road trip stay. Inside, you can find a beautiful open concept with wood features, quaint reading nooks, a stunning bathroom, and cozy living space situated in front of the wood burning stove. You can also find a special fire pit that’s near smoke-free because of it’s unique design.

#4 Black Lake Cabin, Onaway

For our fellow pet families, this cabin is pet-friendly and on Black Lake. This spacious space offers a bedroom downstairs or a loft room upstairs. The spacious porch and fire pit with provided firewood offer stunning spaces to enjoy the fall scenes. There’s something nostalgic about spending your fall in a knotty pine cabin filled with rustic charm.

#5 True North Cabin, Eagle Harbor

Heading back up to the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, you can find this stunning and rustic-modern private retreat on Lake Superior. This ski chalet was originally built in the 1950/60s and renovated in early 2019. You can find a very spacious deck overlooking Lake Superior, open floor plan with lofted ceilings, a stunning fireplace, and unique decorations to make the space truly inviting.

#6 Warbler House, Lake Leelanau

This storybook, stone home, is located in the heart of Leelanau county and a quaint retreat away from the city. You can enjoy handpicked antique and mid-century modern furnishing in the lovely little farm house. Head out to the plethora of hiking trails, wineries, and quaint surrounding towns. #7 S’more Fun Cabin, Grayling

S’more Fun Cabin is another hidden rustic gem! This beautifully secluded cabin makes for a relaxing fall trip complete with a screened in porch, access to the community playground, dock and access to the Au Sable river and the spacious interior. You can also find a firepit and a fireplace.

#8 Log Home, Care County

Head to the woods for this home-away-from-home. There is no wireless internet access or cable due to its seclusion, so this is officially your chance to reconnect to nature. Beautifully decorated, this cabin truly embodies that nostalgic up north cabin feel with modern amenities and access to the community spaces. This is a cabin I would also add to my winter getaway list!

#9 Genna’s Cottage, Harbor Springs

This cozy Up North cottage is a historical home built in 1902, surrounded by hard woods and a bluff. You can find beach access, a fireplace, fire pit, grill, stunning sunroom, and modernized kitchen. Nestled in Harbor Springs, you are close to the wonderful scenic drive of the Tunnel of Trees, not to mention the unique stores and food to be found in downtown Harbor Springs!

#10 The Nook Up North, Traverse City

Only 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City, this cabin offers all there is in the unique are of the Upper Lower Peninsula. This newly renovated cabin was born out of a love for adventure, you can find yourself surrounded by nature, close access to Bass Lake, two screened in porches, private hot tub overlooking the lake, firepit, private outdoor shower, and outdoor storage bin full of games, yoga mats, and extra towels. This cabin has a stunning open floor plan and was renovated with sustainability in mind!

#11 The Morel Cottage, Grayling

Let’s head back to Grayling for this unique and stunning A-Frame. Although the cabin is only 650sq ft, it is cozy and spacious with its open concept, spiral staircase, loft bedroom, and modern amenities. Surrounded by mostly wooded acres, you are secluded but only 6 miles out of town. You are also settled near the Huron-Manistee National Forest and Au Sable River, so plenty of nature areas to enjoy the scenes of fall.
